tie the knot

'Abdullah bin Mas'ud's Hadith, may Allah be pleased with him.
'Alqamah related: While I was going along with 'Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) in Mina, 'Uthman (May Allah be pleased with him) happened to meet him. So he walked and talked with him. Then 'Uthman asked him: Abu 'Abdul-Rahman, should we not marry you to a virgin girl that your past may be recalled to your mind? 'Abdullah said: If you say so, Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to us: O young men, those among you who can support a wife should marry, for it restrains eyes (from casting evil glances) and preserves one from immorality; but he who cannot afford it should observe Fast, for it is a means of controlling the sexual desire.

"hingga ke anak cucu" - my grandparents.

only nineteen years on this world, i already have one former schoolmate who got married early this year and another one is going to take the plunge this weekend. the one who's going to tie the knot this sunday, was a childhood friend of mine. i remember doing everything with him when we were kids. i also remember he had this amazing coin collection from all over the world and he just gave them to me.

one funny incident that stuck in my head was when we were in standard one (around 7 years old) in primary school, me, him, and this other guy once slipped a red rose under a desk of a beautiful girl (where's this girl now, i don't know) during recess. unfortunately, this girl, being the good, obedient person that she is, took the rose and reported it to the ustazah. boy, were we busted. i remember the ustazah gave us a good lecture. "kecik-kecik lagi dah gatal".

i can't recall what or who influenced us to slip her that rose that day. i'm sure that the hormones have not kicked in yet at 7 years old. i blamed it on the tv and hollywood movies. but this girl was pretty. hahahaha........those were the days.

ok, back to this guy. i don't know who's going to be his bride, but i wish for his happiness hingga ke anak cucu. good luck man.

me? i don't think i'm going to follow his footsteps in the near future. don't think i'm ready to take on the responsibility. don't even have a suitable candidate yet. :p
